Launched in 2024, the PATA Excellent Destination Ranking List – Shanxi is the first online ranking list selected by travelers for travel destinations in China’s Shanxi Province. It leverages big data from global tourism platforms and the authentic travel experiences of millions of users. The list recognizes and commends outstanding destinations, scenic spots, hotels, and restaurants in Shanxi that offer exceptional experiences.

Over a period of several months, the judging panel collected the most positive reviews for destinations in Shanxi from Tripadvisor, Trip.com, Ctrip, and the Mafengwo community. These scores were then combined with those given by the expert review panel – comprising members of PATA and Dragon Trail International – to create the PATA Excellent Destination Ranking List – Shanxi.

Located in northern China, to the west of Beijing, Shanxi is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, earning it the title of “Museum of Ancient Chinese Culture.” The province boasts numerous ancient buildings, temples, and historical sites, including the World Cultural Heritage sites of Pingyao Ancient City, Yungang Grottoes, and Mount Wutai.
