Mobile payments in China have taken off in recent years, effectively replacing cash entirely for many urban residents – in 2016, Chinese consumers spent up to US$9 trillion via mobile payment, far ahead of any country in the West. The competition between China’s main mobile payment platforms is now becoming increasingly international, with countries around the world starting to accept Alipay and WeChat Pay at airports, retail stores, taxis and more. Nearly two thirds of Chinese travelers now say that having the option to pay on a mobile platform affects their shopping decisions overseas.

In this edition of our monthly webinar series, we’ll introduce you to China’s biggest mobile payment platforms and look at where they are currently accepted abroad. Learn about the major – and emerging – players, and find out if and how your business can start accepting these kinds of payments.
